[Church-planters] FW: Welcome, church planters!

I'm Joanna Crawford, a seminarian in Houston pursuing UU ministry.  I joined
my current church about a year after they started up as a "seed" church off
of a larger church in town.  I think I've witnessed (and been a part of)
many common mistakes in starting a church.

#1 -- Never give your church a quickie name as a "placeholder" for
paperwork, intending on going back later and changing it.  When, after 5
years, we went to change the name, it darn near killed the church.  Oy, the
fighting.  (And so we kept the cumbersome, unexciting name.)
